September 7, 2008 - A large turnout of competitors were present for the Ironman this year, something to the tune of 2,160 people.  Thanks to their dedicated training, the cooperation of the weather, and the selflessness of the volunteers, over 93% of them finished!  Congratulations!!

Tegenkamp advances to 5000m Final PDF Print E-mail

2008 Beijing Olympics

August 20, 2008 - Matt Tegenkamp, former UW Badger and Madison resident, posted the #1 time of 13:37.36 in the semifinals of the men's 5000m and will advance to the finals this Saturday, August 23.  American Bernard Lagat also qualified with a time of 13:39.7.

World Harmony Run Comes to Movin' Shoes PDF Print E-mail


 July 22, 2008 - The World Harmony Run came to Movin' Shoes today!  They were actually in our store with the torch and let several people hold it.  Click here for some pictures of their visit to Madison.  It is a global relay that seeks to promote international friendship and understanding. As a symbol of harmony, runners carry a flaming torch, passing it from hand to hand travelling through over 100 nations around the globe. The World Harmony Run does not seek to raise money or highlight any political cause, but simply strives to create goodwill among peoples of all nations.  It has been carried by famous individuals such as Muhammad Ali, Mother Theresa, Pope John Paul II, and Carl Lewis.

 
Movin' Shoes Employees Donate to L.I.F.E. PDF Print E-mail

April 22, 2008 - When Movin' Shoes employee Mike McLean's younger brother Eric relapsed with Acute Mygelogenous Leukemia this past Christmas Eve, he refounded L.I.F.E. - The Leukemia Ironman Fundraiser for Eric. So far it has brought in nearly $12,000 for both the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or if people choose, to help pay for Eric's medical expenses. When two other Movin' Shoes employees got word of the fundraiser, they stepped up to help out. Simon Bairu and Chris Solinsky, professional track athletes and former UW Madison students, donated a combined $2,000.00 to Eric for his medical expenses today.
